Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and supervising all Container Handler activities to support Urenco and UUSA management objectives and priorities. This position will interface work activities with various internal departments and Logistics’ manager to ensure all Container Handling activities are performed as scheduled to optimize throughput and minimize risks. Position shall have a demonstrated knowledge and experience of working in an industrial and nuclear safety environment.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR four years of related experience working in an operations, logistics, transportation field and the transport of dangerous goods such as radiological, chemical, petroleum or nuclear and experience with interstate or international commerce, in lieu of a degree.

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree OR six years of related experience working in an operations, logistics, transportation field and the transport of dangerous goods such as radiological, chemical, petroleum or nuclear and experience with interstate or international commerce, in lieu of a degree.

  • Seven to nine years of relevant experience.

Job Details

  • Work location: Urenco USA, Eunice, NM.

  • Work Schedule: 9/80 work week, 6a start. Some nights and weekend support may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.

  • Travel Required: 10% of the time or less as required.

  • Security Clearance Requirement: Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level security clearance is required.

  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.

Primary Functions

  • Schedule and supervise Container Handling activities, including conducting pre-job briefings, development and analysis of job hazard analyses, performing management observations, area walk-downs and periodic internal surveillances and assessments as requested.

  • Ensure all Container Handler activities are performed efficiently and minimize risk while meeting all regulatory, industry, and Urenco requirements.

  • Complete internal training, qualifications, and certification of various Container Handling tasks (equipment pertinent to internal and external CRDB loading) and maintain training currency in accordance with regulations, codes and license requirements.

  • Track and maintain all Container Handler training, ensuring that training is adequate and correct for the associated tasks.

  • Track and maintain all aspects of Container Handling performance and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Ensure that all procedures associated with Container Handling activities are technically correct, accurately implement regulations and industry best practices, and are followed.

  • Purchase/maintain tools and PPE to ensure Container Handlers have the proper safety equipment and tools necessary to perform all essential functions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a Supervisor in a conscientious, professional, and responsible manner in a multi-disciplinary environment and interacting effectively with a variety of organizations.

  • Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Attain and maintain a US government L-level security clearance, complete Hazardous Materials Shipping training and ensure compliance with 49CFR, IATA, IMDG, and any other foreign regulations as applicable for all shipment and receipt activities, maintain equipment in accordance with 10CFR71 Subpart H, ASME, and ANSI requirements.

  • Obtain a general understanding of the UUSA process and safety systems, and exhibit the characteristics of a nuclear professional: high work standards, questioning attitude, conservative decision-making, and striving for excellence in all aspects of job by demonstrating good teamwork skills and strong personal integrity.

  • Exercise good judgment, decision making, and skills to ensure safe, error-free handling of containers and associated equipment and systems: must demonstrate the aptitude and discipline to acquire skills to safely operate and inspect heavy equipment in strict compliance with procedures.

  • Maintain and prepare timely, complete, accurate, and strictly factual operational records and problem reports for equipment problems and human errors.

  • Assist with maintenance activities and perform routine housekeeping activities.

  • Ancillary tasks may include, but are not limited to: purchasing equipment or plant consumables, procedure maintenance, and training tasks.

Compensation starting at: $ 121,320 - $ 146,169 / year and up dependent on candidate.
