From our operating plant in southeast New Mexico to commercial nuclear power plants across the country, Urenco USA has a significant social and economic impact on the United States at a local, state, and national level, which complement Urenco’s broader effort to fuel the production of clean, reliable electricity to support economic growth and prosperity worldwide.
In 2025, Urenco USA commissioned an independent report from Oxford Economics to quantify our impacts in our local communities and across the country, looking at how our facility supports the economy, job creation, education, and community giving.
Key Findings
The socioeconomic impact assessment revealed that in 2024:
- Urenco USA supported a $363.6 million contribution to the U.S. Gross Domestic Product.
- The site supported 1,730 U.S. jobs, including the 560 employees and long-term contractors working at the site.
- For every one dollar of the company’s value-added economic activity, another $0.70 of economic activity was supported in the U.S. economy
- The company purchased $68.6 million worth of goods and services from U.S. suppliers across 37 states and the District of Columbia.
- Employees and contractors at the facility received an average compensation of $119,000, which was approximately 60% higher than the regional and national averages.
- The company made $812,200 in financial contributions to local education initiatives and charitable organizations.
