UUSA Attends ANS Student Conference

14 April 2023

Representatives from UUSA recently attended the American Nuclear Society’s (ANS) Student Conference at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

This year’s conference theme was “Passing the Torch” and attendees were encouraged to reflect on the growth of the nuclear industry and share the opportunities for advancement in the nuclear field with students.

“The ANS Student Conference is an amazing opportunity to meet some of the up-and-coming scientists, leaders, and innovators within our industry,” stated UUSA’s Logistics Manager, Shawn O’Brien. “It’s always delightful to meet these kids and share a bit about what we do at UUSA.”

“UUSA attends the ANS Student Conference each year,” added Lisa Hardison, UUSA’s Manager of Communications and Public Relations. “Not only is it an excellent opportunity to connect and collaborate with our industry peers—we love welcoming students to apply for our summer internship program.”

UUSA’s annual summer internship program runs from May to August and offers participating students an impressive array of educational and professional development opportunities, including one-on-one mentoring, supplementary group learning sessions, and hands-on learning. Interns are encouraged to engage with projects that have a real impact on the company—and provide the most benefit for their learning and career goals.

“Our internship program is designed to be both a challenging and rewarding experience,” shared Karlie Orwig, a representative of UUSA’s HR team who attended the conference. “It’s a great opportunity and we love talking to students about it at these conferences each year. Many of them often end up spending the summer with us.”

Applications for UUSA’s 2023 Summer Internship Program are open until Friday, April 28. Apply today: https://urencousa.com/careers/opportunities/internships
